Behind the Lens: Our Journey with Gulf Christian Services

Having worked many time with GCS over the years, it was a real pleasure to accept the challange when Gulf Christian Services (GCS) approached us at Avosa Stories to help them tell a story of who they are now and where they are going, they entrusted us with a mission close to their hearts: to capture the spirit of the agency and share their vision for the future. Their brief was that—they wanted a video that not only told their story but also celebrated their people and highlighted the path they’re forging ahead.

We set out to immerse ourselves in the essence of the Gulf Province. Writing multiple scripts we finally landed on this one. Images of sago swamps, betel nut, remote villages, and the legendary tales of Bubu Mei filled our minds. We thought about the thousands of community health worker students trained since 1949 and the countless children born under GCS’s care. These weren’t just facts; they were stories waiting to be told.

Our creative process involved deep collaboration with the GCS team. We listened to their stories, shared in their experiences, and endeavoured to translate their passion into a visual narrative. We have traversed muddy trails with them before, visited vibrant communities, and witnessed the firsthand the impact GCS has on the lives of the people they serve.

The result is a video that we’re incredibly proud of—a testament to the resilience, culture, and aspirations of the agency. Through this project, we didn’t just create a who we are video; we built relationships and gained a deeper appreciation for the history and hope for the future.
